New life still arrives during lockdown

Posted on

There is one sure thing that can’t wait. My niece is due to give birth shortly. If she could she would put it off til the world feels a little safer, but there is no going back. I wish her and her hubby well. I hope they can enjoy their newborn when she arrives, show her off to friends and family virtually before everyone can visit for a cuddle. It will be lovely to have something good to celebrate amongst the horror of this dreadful coronavirus.

I made a baby quilt. Not quite knowing her preferred taste it has a ‘traditional’ and a ‘contemporary’ side. For the first time ever I ‘tied’ it rather than quilted it. I am definitely going to use this method for another one. I hope they like pink!

What a beautiful quilt. We have just had a newborn in our family. No visits, surviving on photos! All the best ❀

Thank goodness for photos, eh! Imagine years ago when you’d have heard perhaps by letter and if they lived for instance in another country, that letter might not arrive for months!

I love that you have a traditional side and a contemporary side. When I made quilts for babies, I often tied them. Yours looks great!

Thank you Regina Mary. I have made a few small quilted playmats in the past, loved the piecing but the quilting itself didn’t ever work out as I hoped it would. I think tie-ing is the way to go !
